West Sacramento Being Invaded By Midges

WEST SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – An insect invasion in West Sacramento is really bugging residents.

The bugs look like mosquitoes, but they don't bite.  The insects are called midges, which are more aggressive than mosquitoes.

All the standing water has made for a fertile breeding ground creating the sudden spike.

"We're trying to shoo the guests in the house and shoo the bugs out the door," says West Sacramento resident Sonjhia Lowery. "Cause when I say nuisance, I mean the bugs are trying to fly in your mouth."

Vector Control won't spray to get rid of them like mosquitoes because midges don't carry diseases and pose no health problems.
