WEST SACRAMENTO – A chain-reaction crash caused two vehicles to burst into flames on a Sacramento-area bridge on Monday morning.

The crash was first reported just after 7:30 a.m. on the Bryte Bend Bridge into West Sacramento. California Highway Patrol says a total of four vehicles were involved.

Officers believe a semi-truck crashed into one vehicle, causing a chain-reaction rear-end crash. Two of the other vehicles caught fire.

As seen from CBS13's tower camera, the vehicles were about halfway over the bridge on the westbound side when they caught fire. Black smoke emanated from the bridge for a time.

Fire crews quickly pulled up to the scene and put the flames out.

No injuries were reported, CHP says.

Traffic was significantly impacted along westbound I-80 through the Natomas area into West Sacramento for the late morning commute. Two lanes were closed for several hours.

Caltrans announced a little before 10 a.m. that all lanes were back open.
