Twin Rivers Trustee Taking Leave While Facing Accusations Of Illegal Loans, Falsifying Paternity Test
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Twin Rivers Trustee Cortez Quinn stood in front of his district for the first time since being released from jail, asking for time to deal with the accusations he's facing.
A move is being planned to consider ousting the trustee at the board's next meeting.
Cortez disregarded news crews as he darted out of the school board chambers and into a closed-door meeting at the Twin Rivers Unified School District.
His only pause in front of cameras came in a moment of preparation before reading a statement announcing his immediate leave of absence for 90 days from his role as an elected board member.
"Due to personal circumstances, my present service on this board would cause an undue distraction," Quinn said.
He's been avoiding questions since his released from jail on Wednesday after being arrested by the Sacramento District Attorney for a number of charges, including allegedly falsifying a DNA paternity test for a child born to a district employee.
An investigator allegedly got Quinn's real DNA by following him into a bathroom at the district headquarters and grabbing a paper towel Quinn used after he threw it in a wastebasket.
