Tiger Woods Returning To Competitive Golf In Napa At Safeway Open

NAPA (CBS13) — Tiger Woods is coming back to competitive golf next week for the first time since August 2015 in Napa.

Woods confirmed he'll be playing in next week's Safeway Open, which runs from Oct. 13 to Oct. 16.

The winner of 14 major tournaments, Woods has been recovering from back surgery and missed all four majors for the first time in his pro career.

He announced his intentions on his website in a Sept. 7 post, saying. "my rehabilitation is to the point where I'm comfortable making plans, but I still have work to do. Whether I can play depends on my continued progress and recovery. My hope is to have my game ready to go."

The PGA Tour confirmed on Friday that Woods would in fact be playing next week.

Woods also says he hopes to compete in several other events before the end of the year, including the Turkish Open Nov. 3-6.
