Thunderstorms Pose Flood Risk In Riverside County
DESERT CENTER, Calif. (AP) -An urban and small stream flood advisory has been issued for Riverside County.
The National Weather Service says at 1:35 p.m. Friday radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms.
The advisory, which covers areas including Desert Center, is in effect until 4:30 p.m.
Meteorologists urge drivers to turn around if they encounter flooded roads.
The San Diego weather service office says there's an active monsoon pattern and moisture over the mountains will contribute to isolated thunderstorms, particularly where the sea breeze interacts with higher terrain.
Other mountain and foothill areas are expected to see towering cumulus clouds.
