Teen, 17, Found Shot In Head In South Sacramento

UPDATE: Police confirm Wednesday morning that the teen has died from his injuries.

The Sacramento County Coroner's Office identifies the boy as 17-year-old Tayon Shelby.

No suspect in the shooting has been identified.

SOUTH SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A teenager was found shot in the head along Sunrise Greens Drive near Elsie Avenue just after 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

The 17-year-old was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, and police say they shooting doesn't appear to be gang-related.

"At this point there's no suspect description or motive, but at this point in time we're taking interviews and trying to gather as much information as we can as well as canvassing the neighborhood," said Sacramento County Sheriff's Sgt. Tony Turnbull.
