Suspected Golf Cart Thief Shot, Killed In Indio Police Gun Battle
INDIO, Calif. (AP) - A man suspected of stealing a golf cart in Indio has died in a shootout with police.
Police received the stolen golf cart report around 11:30 a.m. Saturday and later spotted a man matching the description of the thief.
Authorities say the man had a gun and a gunfight erupted when an officer tried to arrest him.
The man died at the scene. His name hasn't been released.
The officer wasn't hurt.
Indio is about 125 miles east of downtown Los Angeles
