UPDATED: Sheriff's Deputies Suspend Digging In Backyard In Search Of Missing Woman
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Sacramento County sheriff's deputies suspended a search and dig at the former residence of a woman who has been reported missing since October 2008.
Regina Garcia was 33 years old when her boyfriend Randy Macedo, 56, whom she lived with at the home, reported her missing.
Sheriff's Spokesman Jason Ramos says "some excavation" is being done in the backyard of the home in the 1600 block of Stewart Road in hopes of finding any evidence of Garcia's disappearance, including possible remains.
In the four years since, there have been no reported sightings or signs of Garcia.
Macedo, who still lives at the home, has not yet been interviewed.
On June 7, he was arrested after sheriff's deputies found drugs, guns and an explosive device in the home.
Deputies plan to resume digging Thursday morning with more equipment to expedite the search in what is described as a 6,000 to 7,000 square foot backyard.
Some evidence was recovered during the search, but no remains of Garcia were found.
Ramos confirmed Macedo is currently locked up.
