Police Seek South Sacramento Shooting Suspect

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A south Sacramento school was put on lockdown late Thursday morning after officers searched for a shooting suspect nearby.

The scene is near Franklin Boulevard and Mack Road.

Sacramento Police say a car with four people inside was driving down Franklin when a young man on foot shot into the car.

Multiple rounds were fired into the car and one of the passengers was hit. But by the time officers showed up at the scene, two of the passengers had left.

Samuel Jackman Middle School was placed on precautionary lockdown as officers search the nearby area for the gunman. The lockdown has since been lifted.

The person shot, only identified as a man by police, is expected to survive his injury.

As of Thursday afternoon, officers are still trying to find the suspect.
