The suspect led officers on a chase down Highway 99 through Sacramento before eventually stopping in the Lodi area.

California Highway Patrol officers took the suspect into custody near Lodi. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment as a precautionary measure and is expected to be booked into the Sacramento Main Jail once he is medically cleared.

A Sacramento police spokesperson identified the suspect as 28-year-old Isaac Paval of Sacramento and said he faces numerous felony charges. Paval has a known criminal history in Sacramento and is on pretrial probation for a DUI offense, officials said.

No law enforcement officials were injured.

Due to the chase and subsequent police activity, one lane of southbound Highway 99 is blocked at Turner Road in Lodi. It's unclear when the freeway will be back open.
