Sacramento Couple Arrested On Child Endangerment Charges

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A Sacramento man who lost one of his sons in an accident involving a light rail train last month is in jail after being charged with child endangerment involving another of his sons.

Domonick Williams and his live-in girlfriend Rosa Rubio were arrested for an incident that occurred in April 2011 in which a 3-year-old boy was badly burned in a bathtub.

Williams says it was an accident that happened when he walked out the bathroom to get a diaper.

"I was gone maybe three and a half minutes," he said in a jailhouse interview with CBS13's Ron Jones. "In that time he got in the water and messed with the dials and he burned himself."

Rubio also spoke to CBS13 from the jail and said she's afraid she'll lose custody of her other three children.

"I lived all my life for those kids and if I don't have them in my life, there's no reason for me to be here," she said.

The toddler wasn't immediately taken to the hospital and authorities were notified. CBS13 couldn't reach the District Attorney's Office to ask why the two are just now being charged nearly a year after the incident.

"Yeah, I should have taken that baby into the hospital" Rubio admitted. "If I would have known it was that severe I would done it, but I didn't think it was that severe so I didn't do it."

Now, Rubio's children are with Child Protective Services.

"I don't want to live my life without them," she said. "I just pray that they're not taken away from my care."

Williams' son 22-month-old Damian Williams was killed when the vehicle he was riding in with his grandfather driving collided with a light rail train Jan. 28.
