Driver stranded in rushing Sacramento County water pulled to safety
SACRAMENTO – A woman was pulled to safety after she became stranded in her vehicle in rushing water in Sacramento County on Thursday night.
Sacramento Metro Fire responded to Scott Road at Deer Creek after a Jeep became disabled in rushing water around 6:45 p.m.
Crews said the water overflowed the driver was stranded in her car.
She was pulled out of the water safely and medics evaluated her. The car was also removed from the water.
Sac Metro said the water is about 12 inches high but said it could take about 4-6 inches of water to sweep a vehicle away.
Scott Road is closed from Payen Road and Latrobe Road. Crews said to respect road closure signs and wait for water to go down.
Deer Creek is about 30 miles east of Sacramento in the Deer Creek Hills Nature Preserve.
