Sacramento Area Preps For Visits From Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Expect possible travel headaches on Wednesday as two presidential candidates make stops in the Sacramento area.

Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders will be in Davis, while presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump will be at the Sacramento International Airport – and you can expect a lot of traffic congestion all day.

If you have to fly today, the airport recommends getting there an extra half hour early. All flights are scheduled to continue as normal, but there will be huge crowds.

Organizers expect about 5,000 people to show up for the hour-long rally. Trump will be speaking at the Jet Center at the main airport. Doors open at 4 p.m. and the event starts at 7 p.m. A spokesman for the airport says they expect Trump to land only shortly before speaking.

Meanwhile, Sanders will be at the UC Davis campus. He's scheduled to speak at the same time as Trump. The rally is being held at Hutchison Intramural Field, with doors opening at 5 p.m.

Despite trailing Hillary Clinton, Sanders says he's confident he can still win the nomination.

Clinton did pick up a major endorsement on Tuesday: Governor Jerry Brown.
