Runners Remember 9-11 Victims At Annual Downtown Event
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - More than a thousand runners remembered the victims of 9-11 Sunday morning in downtown Sacramento.
The 3rd Annual Run To Remember started at 9:11 a.m., with runners winding their way from the Capitol through downtown, into West Sacramento, then crossing the finish line at Capitol Mall.
Participants then placed a flag in the 9-11 memorial, with each flag representing a person who died that day.
"You're participating in something that honors those people and remembers them. So it's a way to kind of soften the blow, but let's not forget them," said Metro Fire Cpt. Michelle Eidam.
The money goes to a number of organizations that benefit law enforcement, firefighters and their families.
