Possible Homicide Suspect In Custody After Overnight Search

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A possible homicide suspect is now in custody following a search in south Sacramento overnight.

The suspect surrendered to police around 4:30 Wednesday morning after spending several hours in the backyard of a home on Alcedo Circle and Winnett Way.

Officers had been searching for the man since he took off after being spotted near the scene of an earlier deadly shooting a few blocks away on Samos Way near Mack Road.

A man was shot and killed in a vehicle in that area. As officers were investigating, they noticed a car in the area driving recklessly.

When officers tried to pull over the car, the driver took off, leading them on a short pursuit before jumping out of the car near Alcedo Way.

Investigators are searching the area for anything the suspect may have dropped or left behind that could connect him to the Samos Way homicide. They did find a wig but have not said if it is connected to the case.

While detectives will not say if this man is the suspected shooter, they are not looking for anyone else right now.
