Police Dog Bodie Expected To Be Going Home Soon
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Bodie, the Sacramento Police Department K9 who was shot last week in a suspect chase, is expected to be released from a Rancho Cordova veterinary hospital Friday.
On Tuesday Bodie had surgery to remove bullet fragments from his jaw and one of his paws.
Officials with the police department say he's doing much better and even was able to go outside in the sun Wednesday.
The department on Wednesday officially identified Bodie's partner as Officer Randy Van Dusen. Van Dusen returned fire on the suspect in the Land Park shooting on May 18, killing him in the backyard of a home on Robertson Way.
Bodie, a 4-year-old German shepherd, lives with the Van Dusen family. The officer was expected to address the media on Thursday afternoon.
