Person Of Interest In New Year's Homicide Identified

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. (CBS13) – Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies have identified the person of interest in the New Year's Day murder of a Rancho Cordova woman.

Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies are actively looking for 31-year-old Demetrius Shaffer who they say was one of the last people seen with 37-year-old Rajeet Kor Singh before she was found dead on New Year's Day.

Singh was found only partially clothed just before 11:00 a.m. on January 1 and investigators determined she was the victim of a homicide.

Earlier this week, detectives released security footage from a card room on Folsom Boulevard that showed a black man who was seen with Singh at some point during the night.  Detectives now say that man is Shaffer who is known to frequent the Rancho Cordova area.
