'Monster Home' Proposal Draws Fire From Neighbors

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A fight is brewing in Midtown Sacramento over the construction of a house.

Neighbors along C and 22nd streets say the three-story, 30-foot-high contemporary home would not fit in with the style of their neighborhood.

The home's owner and builder says she admits it's a different style home but different is good.

The area is lined with bungalows, so why not just a build a bungalow?

"Oh, because it's like every other house. It's just our taste that's what we like and that's what we hope to see happen," said owner and builder Erica Cunnigham. "You know we're just trying to build a home for our family."

The Sacramento City Council will hear from neighbors opposed to the home.

For now, the owners have a green light to build it.
