Mom Who Allegedly Abandoned Child In Park Disagrees With Charges
STOCKTON (CBS13) — A woman accused of leaving her toddler at a park in Stockton questioned the charges she faces of abandoning her child.
Dressed in an orange jumpsuit, Silvia Perez, 44, learned she will be out of jail, but not out of trouble.
A prosecutor told the court Perez left her child at park despite his cries for help. He also said Perez denied the toddler was even hers.
Prosecutors offered Perez a plea deal consisting of a 120-day jail sentence, probation, parenting classes and a fine. She opted for a public defender who convinced the judge to release her until her next court date in July.
Her child remains in the care of child-protective services.
