Met High School Principal Placed On Leave

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A Sacramento high school principal is on leave while the district investigates accusations he drank with his students and another teacher.

Parents received a letter saying Met Charter High School Principal Allen Young is on leave, but that letter didn't say why.

A student, who wants to remain anonymous, says she heard the principal is under investigation after he partied with students and another teacher during a field trip to Cal State Humboldt. The trip a week or two ago was for seniors to check out the campus as an option for college.

Here's what the student said she heard happened on that trip:

"The teacher had actually gotten drunk with some of the students and bought them alcohol, and there was another rumor going around that the principal had done cough syrup with some of the students."

We did get this statement from Sacramento City Unified School District spokesman Gabe Ross:

"Obviously we take school leaders and staff positions as role models very seriously. I can confirm the principal of The Met Sacramento is on leave as we investigate allegations of inappropriate behavior."

He would not confirm a field trip happened or the details of the allegations, only confirming a teacher resigned Wednesday.
