Man's Wood Car Turning Heads In Auburn

AUBURN (CBS13) - An Auburn man's creation has people doing a double-take.

The so-called "Sunshine Car" has an exterior made of wood, but it's truly green under the hood.

The handmade wood vehicle runs using the sun. Steve Brown, a retired fire captain, has a solar system at home that acts as the vehicle's charging station.

And while it sure looks unique, he says it is very practical.

"I think of it as a horseless carriage," he says. "I use it to drive around town since i just got finished with it."

Brown says the Sunshine Car is based on a quadracycle's frame, like the first cars designed by Henry Ford. It took him about six months to build.
