Man Suspected Of Killing Girlfriend In Stockton Arrested

STOCKTON (CBS13) - Police say they have arrested a man suspected of killing his girlfriend.

Ernesto Velazquez was identified in the shooting of his 39-year-old girlfriend. She was found dead along the 4500 block of Mist Trail Drive.

Velazquez is also believed to have carjacked two people while trying to get away.

Saturday evening, a tip lead officers to the Ivy Motel along the 9100 block of Thornton Road. Officers surrounded the motel, but Velazquez tried to jump a fence and take off.

A K9 apprehended Velazquez, however.

Police say Velazquez threw down a loaded handgun when he was being taken into custody.

Velazquez is first being taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries before he is booked into San Joaquin County Jail.
