UPDATE: American River Drowning Victim Identified
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A 53-year-old man who died Tuesday afternoon after being pulled out of the American River in Sacramento has been identified.
The Sacramento County Coroner's website identifies the man as 53-year-old William Lake.
Lake was seen struggling in the water near Highway 160 and Northgate by the Pipe Bridge. A stranger tried to go in the water to rescue him but had to give up the effort when he too began struggling in the water.
By the time Sacramento city firefighters arrived and divers were able to get Lake out, he had reportedly been under water nearly an hour.
