Irvine Man Gets 10 Years In Attack On 75-Year-Old Woman & Dog

SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) — A man who violently attacked a 75-year-old woman and her dog in Irvine has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The Orange County Register reports (http://bit.ly/2dYkNit ) that 52-year-old Craig Ledbetter of Irvine was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty to attempted murder, elder abuse, animal cruelty and resisting arrest.

Police say the victim was walking her family's mini poodle last September when a screaming and naked Ledbetter ran up and knocked her down.

Prosecutors say Ledbetter punched her in the face and chest and repeatedly kicked her in the head before grabbing the dog by the leash and swinging it over his shoulder.

The woman had bleeding of the brain, a dislocated arm and eye injuries. The dog wasn't hurt.

Ledbetter was arrested after being subdued by a Taser.
