Grass Fire Burns Along Interstate 80 During Busy July 4 Commute
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A grass fire along Interstate 80 shut down part of one lane during busy holiday traffic on Monday.
The flames from the westbound side of the freeway as it crept close to the road, sending thick, black smoke into the sky at times. Firefighters managed to get a hold of the flames before they reached a nearby equipment rental business.
One lane of westbound Interstate 80 before the split with Highway 50 was shut down, slowing holiday traffic.
Tall, dry grass was visible in the aftermath of the fire.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
