Friends Hold Vigil For Vacaville Shooting Victims
Friends and family gathered Tuesday night to remember the two men shot and killed in a Vacaville apartment, as well as pray for the third victim who is still hospitalized.
Detectives said suspect Richard Calkins shot the three victims at the apartment complex on Williams Street at about 2:00 a.m. Tuesday before heading to the Vacaville Police Station.
Calkins allegedly smashed several windows with his gun before officers used a taser on him and took him into custody, where he is now facing murder charges.
"I can only speculate that he intended on further homicidal activity," said Vacaville Police Lt. Randy Weaver.
Friends identified the victims who died as Richard Perez and Cameron Silva, and said the suspect was friends with all three victims, making the motive for the crime unfathomable.
"They were just hanging out, watching TV, and then all of a sudden, you know, something went bad," said friend Raechel Sweda.
The third victim, a woman who has not been identified, is in critical condition but is expected to survive.
