Four Saved After Crab Boat Flips, One Dead

JENNER, Calif. (AP) -- A crab fishing trip turned into tragedy when a boat capsized, tossing five people into the rough, frigid waters. One of them died.

Sheriff's officials say two boats filled with a group of friends set out early Tuesday to go crabbing north of Bodega Bay.

Sgt. Ed Hoener said one of the boats got into trouble when a rope got caught in its propeller, and the vessel started taking on water before a large wave flipped it over.

The other boat was able to pull the four men and one woman out of the water, but a 60-year-old was later pronounced dead. The dead victim's name was not immediately released.

Two were taken to the hospital, and two others were treated at the scene.

The Coast Guard says the 21-foot Cabo yacht did not have life vests.
