Fire At Abandoned Sacramento House Spreads To Home Next Door
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Crews have been investigating two house fires in Midtown Sacramento early Tuesday morning.
The scene is near S and 16th Streets. The fire, which started around 3:30 a.m., went to two alarms and a large contingent of fire crews responded to the scene.
Firefighters attacked the flames aggressively to make sure the neighborhood didn't go up in smoke.
The fire is believed to have originated at an abandoned home. Flames then spread to the attic of the home next door, but crews were able to keep the fire from spreading further.
Firefighters say they have been monitoring this neighborhood for some time.
"We have situations like that, multiple home sitting empty for a number of years. We try to keep tabs on them just to make sure," said Chris Harvey with the Sacramento Fire Department.
No one was inside either home.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
