Family Sues Knott's Berry Farm Over Utah Child's Roller-Coaster Injury

BUENA PARK, Calif. (AP) - The family of a Utah boy who was badly injured on a Knott's Berry Farm roller coaster has sued the Southern California amusement park for negligence.

The parents of 10-year-old Carson Burrei of St. George filed the lawsuit Thursday in Orange County.

The lawsuit says the boy was getting off the "Coast Rider" in 2014 when his foot became wedged between the roller coaster and platform.

The skin was torn from his foot, and his leg was broken. The suit contends a similar accident occurred just two months earlier on the same ride, but no significant repairs were made until after the boy was hurt.

The boy's parents say Knott's sent their son a teddy bear but never apologized.

Messages seeking comment from Knott's weren't immediately returned.
