Knife-wielding man shot and killed by deputy at Roseville's Dry Creek Park, officials say
A Placer County sheriff's deputy shot and killed a knife-wielding suspect at Dry Creek Park in Roseville on Tuesday, officials said.
A spokesperson for the Placer County Sheriff's Office said dispatchers received a call around 6:30 p.m. regarding suspicious activity at Dry Creek Park.
The first two deputies to arrive saw "a man armed with a large knife," the spokesperson said. After attempts by law enforcement officials to de-escalate the situation, the man allegedly then charged at one of the deputies, who then shot the suspect.
The suspect was declared dead at the scene. He has been identified by Placer County authorities as 31-year-old Jacob Cole Rushing.
No one else was hurt.
At around 8 p.m., the Placer County Sheriff's Office said on social media that investigators were still at the scene at Dry Creek Park and urged the public to avoid the area.
