Dense Fog Expected To Persist Through Monday Morning

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Thick fog has already settled on parts of the Sacramento Valley, creating dangerous driving conditions that are expected to last through the Monday morning commute.

The National Weather Service issued a dense fog advisory for Yuba City, Sacramento, Fairfield, Vacaville, Stockton and Modesto that isn't expected to expire until 11:00 a.m. Monday.

Visibility will be less than a quarter of a mile in many places overnight, with patches of extremely dense fog that will reduce visibility to less than 100 feet.

Drivers are urged to use their low-beam headlights at all times in the fog and drive carefully, allotting extra time to reach their destination.

The Sacramento Valley should get a break from the fog by Tuesday or Wednesday, but strong winds will likely take their place, according to weather forecasts.

The California Highway Patrol responded to a number of accidents that were apparently caused by low visibility Sunday night.
