THE DEFENSE

Q: How long have you had your car?

A: Six months.

Q: How many miles have you personally put on it?

A: Maybe only 400. But that's just back and forth from work and home. It was my parents' and they sold it to me for a good price. It was $2,000.

Q: That's a good deal!

A: Yeah, but it also involved some labor on [my husband] Mario's part.

Q: Did he have to mow the lawn or something?

A: Uh…Christmas lights and yeah, he had to cut down all their trees and bushes for the winter. It was a fair trade.

Q: What's your car's main use?

A: It's for hauling babies around or doctor appointments.

Q: How much time do you spend in the car on an average day?

A: Two hours in this one. But in the delivery van, it's more like five. Flowers.

Q: Do you deliver every day?

A: Not every day, but when there's not enough delivery drivers, like Mario or my mom can't do it, I'll do it.

Q: What's the craziest place you've driven to?

A: I've driven down the 101 and behind me, I watched someone go off the road—well, I guess it's not weird, it just kind of happened. Someone had driven off the cliff right behind me. I watched it in my rearview mirror. Off the 101.There were, I guess, two guys in it. They didn't make it.

Q: Wow!

A: I called 911, along with the car behind them. They called 911, too. We were stopped and freaked out.

Q: Were you with anybody?

A: No, I was by myself. I didn't want to drive the rest of the way after that. I was like, "I don't want to go. I don't want to go. I don't want to die." I was so slow.

Q: Were they driving crazy or anything?

A: No, it's just, you know how on the 101, on the cliffs, there's nothing. I think they're going to be closing a big chunk of it. And I think that's the chunk probably because so many people have just…

Q: It can be dangerous down there. New topic! Do you have any rules in your car?

A: No. There's going to be stickers on the glass soon, I'm sure, so there are no rules in the car.

Q: If your car had a theme song, what would it be?

A: "Movin' On Up" to the East Side? It's the nicest car I've ever owned. That's probably why.

Q: If your car had a human emotion, what would it be?

A: It's kind of mellow. It's got a mellow vibe. Until the kids are inside then it needs to drink.

Q: What's your favorite feature?

A: The color and it's high up. So I don't feel like I'm going to get smashed when a truck suddenly merges in front of me and scares me.

Q: Is there anything else we should know about your car?

A: It's a girl. She's calm in stressful situations, unlike a man. Mario's car is definitely a man because when someone cuts him off, it honks its horn and rides its ass until it's gone.
