USA Today's list recognized Corti Brothers' impressive selection of goods along with its legendary sandwiches.

Alice Waters, founder of Berkeley's legendary Chez Panisse restaurant, is also among the famous foodies who have sung Corti Brothers' praises.

"It's what we've done our whole career," Mindermann said.

Frank and Gino Corti opened the grocery store at Folsom Boulevard and 59th Street in 1947.
