City Leaders Sweat It Out To Raise Awareness About Healthy Living

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — City leaders are sweating it out to raise awareness about getting fit and eating healthy.
Elected officials from across the region, pedaling their way through some friendly competition at the kickoff of the Capitol Region Gets Fit campaign.
"I say a region that sweats together stays healthy together, so let's all get on with it," said Woodland mayor Tom Stallard.
Programs are already in place in his city, but this collaboration is taking fitness to another level.
Living in Northern California, this group says no excuses. Roseville Mayor Carol Garcia started the challenge.
"Personally I try to do a spin class four times a week," she said.
Trying to set an example and start a trend, but exercise is just one part of it. It's also about nutrition and making better food choices.
It's on the heels of a report from the Surgeon General saying less than half of Americans are getting enough physical activity to reduce their risk for chronic diseases and obesity.
