Citrus Heights police respond to person found dead near home

Citrus Heights police said they received calls about a person found dead near a home on Butternut Drive Wednesday, which led to a large police response.

The person, identified as an adult male, was found dead from a gunshot, police said. Officers then searched the surrounding area to make sure there was no danger to the public and concluded it was an isolated incident.

According to police, the man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
