Citrus Heights Neighbors Stop Woman After SUV Hits Parked Cars

CITRUS HEIGHTS (CBS13) - A Citrus Heights woman was arrested Wednesday and accused of ramming several parked cars with her SUV before neighbors intervened.

Police say she went on the rampage overnight and that residents on Woodmore Oaks Drive came together in the neighborhood and actually held the woman until officers arrived.

Shelby Rua told CBS13 that neighbors were running and chasing the woman down the street after allegedly side-swiped several cars.

"We heard a big crash," Rua said. "People were calling the cops, telling her to calm down, just to sit down."

Citrus Heights police arrested the woman on scene, but it's the people officers say that live on the street that really stepped up to the plate.

"I thought she was going to run me over, so I went to the other side of the driver's side to stop her," a neighbor named Alex said.

The neighbor then grabbed the steering wheel so the woman couldn't drive away. In fact, another neighbor had to reach inside the SUV to grab the keys.

"I'm just amazed she's still alive," Alex said. "She was going pretty fast I heard."

"Just to see her actually running, there was no way she was going to get away from it," Rua said.
Police are investigating whether the woman, whose name wasn't released, was under the influence.
