California Man Suspected Of Poisoning Wife's Rice Krispies
AZUSA, Calif. (AP) — A Southern California man has been arrested on suspicion of putting poison in his wife's cereal.
Los Angeles County jail records show 43-year-old Fernando Porras of Azusa was being held on $1 million bail Saturday on suspicion of the attempted murder of his 51-year-old wife Fernanda.
Azusa police Cpl. Randy Schmidt says the woman noticed a horrible taste and smell Thursday in her Rice Krispies.
Schmidt tells the San Gabriel Valley Tribune (http://bit.ly/y9U8sw ) she was taken to the hospital, where police grew suspicious of her husband when he said he was going to smoke a cigarette, then disappeared. He was arrested about two miles away.
Police say Porras put a poisonous chemical in the cereal, but they did not say what it was.
Porras is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
