Bus And Commuter Train Collide In Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A commuter train and bus have collided near downtown Los Angeles.

Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey says a handful of people complaining of knee or back pain have been taken to a hospital. He says the exact number will be available later.

None of the injuries are life-threatening.

The Metro Blue Line train collided with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus just before 7 a.m. at San Pedro Street and Washington Boulevard, and the bus then knocked down a traffic signal.

Humphrey says about 40 people aboard the bus and about eight commuters on the train were examined.

The train did not derail and Humphrey says about 150 people aboard the train are waiting to continue their journey.
