2 Stabbed During Deltron 3030 Concert In Grass Valley
GRASS VALLEY (CBS13) – People say it's generally quiet in this Grass Valley neighborhood, but things got hectic at the Center of the Arts Saturday night.
"The whole street was covered with fire, sheriffs, police," said neighbor Alice Wilson. "This is the first time I've ever seen things get out of control like this."
This is what Wilson saw when she looked outside her home Saturday night: cop cars surrounding the usually quiet and quaint Grass Valley neighborhood.
"We don't tend to have violent crimes," Wilson said.
Police say there was a stabbing at the Deltron 3030 concert, a hip hop group performing at the Center of the Arts right next door to Alice's home.
Grass Valley Police say two people were stabbed; one of them flown to a hospital, the other is expected to be OK. Police say they questioned one man, but are still investigating if he acted in self-defense.
"It's appearing that there were several people involved in a physical altercation that lead to the stabbing," said Grass Valley Police Officer Clint Bates.
CBS13 tried talking to the staff at the Center, but the doors were locked and no came to the door. They sent us this statement: "Our deepest concern at every public event is to keep our patrons and volunteers safe. We hire professional security at every large event as we did last night."
And though the streets of Grass Valley are now clean of Saturday night's incident, it's still shocking to people who live here that it occurred in the first place.
"That's unusual for around here," neighbor Don Miller said.
Neighbors say the center has had a positive impact on the community and they hope that the problems stemming from the concert is a one-time thing.
