Police Find Sophisticated Marijuana Grow In Home During South Sacramento Homicide Investigation

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A person has been found dead along with a large marijuana grow inside a home on Mandy Drive in South Sacramento.

Investigators say a report of a burglary came in just before 8 p.m. at a home near the 7500 block of Mandy Drive. The caller also reported that an unresponsive male was found inside the home.

Police arrived at the home and found the victim, an Asian male in his 20s, lying on the floor with apparent upper-body trauma, according to a statement from the Sacramento Police Department. Sacramento Fire Department paramedics pronounced he man dead at the scene.

Police searched the home to see if there were additional victims and found a sophisticated, illegal marijuana grow involving 300 plants.

Detectives have not said how they think the victim was connected to the home. They do not believe his death was random.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending the coroner's examination.
