PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Allegheny County police have filed felony child pornography charges against an employee of the Keystone Oaks School District.

Thomas Robert Duxbury, 32, of Wilkins Township, was arraigned Wednesday morning on several charges of sexual abuse of children and is free on bail.

Students and staff found out about Duxbury on Wednesday when they received a letter from the district. In the letter, the superintendent said Duxbury has been with the district since 2017 and currently teaches music and gifted classes at the high school and middle school. He also worked at all three elementary school buildings before that.

investigators said they were tipped off about Duxbury after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a cyber tip in July 2021 from Snapchat regarding multiple videos of suspected child porn that Duxbury uploaded.

County police detectives confiscated Duxbury's cell phone after searching his Wilkins Township home last month. Investigators said they found 80 images of child porn and 18 videos depicting child porn.

Police reviewed other accounts on the phone and found Duxbury wrote in a private message on the messaging app Kik, "No one can see my phone. I'd get in trouble lolol."

KDKA-TV went to Duxbury's home on Wednesday to see if anyone was there, but no one answered.

Keystone Oaks said Duxbury worked as an elementary music teacher for three years before moving to the middle school at the start of the 2020-21 school year. The district went on to say that it was not made aware of any misconduct or complaints related to the charges filed against Duxbury prior to April 22, 2022.

Allegheny County police told KDKA-TV that the investigation has not revealed any local or student victims.

The district placed Duxbury on administrative leave last month. He is due in court for his preliminary hearing in a few weeks.
