'Pittsburgh Dad' Apologizes For Video Rant About Penguins

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A Pittsburgh celebrity is taking some heat for a rant about one of our local sports teams over the weekend.

Curt Wootton, better known as "Pittsburgh Dad," was at a local bar watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Penguins games Saturday night.

Cell phone video captured Wootton talking out of character about the Penguins and the sport of hockey.

"Hockey is Canadian and Russian," he said at one point.

The video quickly made the rounds on social media and prompted an apology from Wootton.

Here's the full apology, which was posted to his Facebook page on Sunday:

"I was a jagoff. While watching the Pens and the Steelers games with some friends at a local sports bar last night, I let my frustrations get the best of me and made some lousy remarks about our teams. I wish I could say this was the first time I've cursed at the TV or acted like an idiot while watching the black and gold, but I really do wear my heart on my sleeve for our teams. My own Pittsburgh dad and mum are sure gonna give me an earful over my poor language and behavior. They brought me up better than that. No excuses. It wasn't right and it isn't the attitude or demeanor that we at the Pittsburgh Dad show strive to attain. We love our city. We love our teams. Without that, we might as well be Cleveland. My sincerest apologies to our great fans and to the best city in the world. Sorry for acting like a jagoff
