Pennsylvania's Instant Firearm Background Check System Sees Drop For First Time In A Year

By: KDKA-TV News Staff

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pennsylvania's instant firearm background check system has seen a dip in its record-breaking numbers.

According to our news partner at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, for the past year, the system had surpassed 400,000 checks each quarter. But in the second quarter of 2021, the number dropped to 334,000.

Some dealers say the drop is likely due to many people panic buying a firearm during the pandemic.
