Drugs, Guns Uncovered When Police Investigate Home Invasion

AMBRIDGE (KDKA) – An investigation into a Christmas Eve shooting took a different turn when the victims were found with a house full of weapons and drugs.

It happened around 8 p.m. near 1st Street and Park Road in Ambridge during a home invasion Saturday.

Police say three masked gunmen entered a house through the front door, which was believed to have been unlocked.

Once they investigated, police found and confiscated drugs and weapons from inside the house. Three people are now facing charges.

When police first arrived on the scene Saturday night, they could not pin down a motive, but further investigation uncovered new evidence.

"We uncovered a substantial amount of heroin, some scales, guns, drug paraphernalia, packaging material," acting Ambridge Police Chief James Mann said. "So we kind of know what the motive was for this home invasion now."

One of the gunmen shot 29-year-old Chad Lee Gray in the stomach, three other people were also home at the time.

Gray's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening and he is among those facing charges.

Hundreds of stamped bags of heroin were found inside the house, according to police.

"This has been plaguing that entire area," Mann said. "We know for a fact that there's been some overdoses with the heroin that they've been selling there."

"We've been receiving complaints, the mayor's office, the police department, about drug traffic down there," he said. "We've been watching the place. We knew what was going on."

Gray's girlfriend, Monique Blakely, and her son Keenane will also face charges.

"I'm sure the neighbors in the area are going to be happy with it," Mann said.

Authorities are still looking for the three gunmen and ask anyone with information to call police.
