Greensburg Police: Missing Couple Found Safe, On Spontaneous Vacation

GREENSBURG (KDKA) -- Police say a man and woman reported missing in Westmoreland County have been located after deciding to take a spontaneous trip to South Carolina.
According to the City of Greensburg Police Department's Facebook page, 29-year-old Amanda Caldwell and 30-year-old Joseph Zyvith have been found safe. The pair hadn't been seen since Thursday.
Officials say Caldwell and Zyvith were staying at a Motel 6 in Hardeeville, South Carolina, after deciding on a spur-of-the-moment vacation.
City of Greensburg Police say it all started when Caldwell never showed up for work at Senior Life in Greensburg on Thursday.
Caldwell, of Greensburg, had told family and coworkers that she was going to meet a man for a first date. She was last heard from around 12:30 a.m. Thursday when she responded to a friend's Snapchat.
"She relayed to some of her coworkers that she had just met him and she was just trying to be friends with him," Greensburg Police Capt. Robert Stafford said.
According to police, Caldwell's credit card was used at gas stations in Bastian, Virginia, just before 4 a.m. Friday, and Columbia, South Carolina, around 12:20 p.m. Friday.
Police say 30-year-old Joseph Zyvith, an acquaintance of Caldwell's, was also reported missing.
Zyvith, of Hempfield Township, reportedly called off work at General Carbide around 12:43 a.m. Thursday.
Police pinged or tracked down Caldwell's cellphone to her Greensburg apartment. It was left behind, something her friends and family said was unusual. Zyvith's phone was off.

Police also found Zyvith's vehicle parked behind Caldwell's home on South Maple Avenue. Police say there was blood inside the car.
"In his vehicle, there was a small amount of blood located on his steering wheel, which also raised suspicion in this incident," Capt. Stafford said.
Caldwell's vehicle -- a red 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer with a Pennsylvania license plate reading HNA-3595 -- also went missing.
That vehicle was spotted on surveillance video from the Speedway on Route 119 in Hempfield Township. It showed the couple putting gas in the car in the early hours of Thursday morning.
