A pair of nearly identical models, the 2013 Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ, rank as the top sports car of the year, according to Consumer Reports. Another Japanese-made vehicle, the 2013 Toyota Highlander, makes Consumer Reports' list of the best models in 10 categories. The Highlander ranks as the best midsize sport-utility vehicle of its 2013 class. The SUV goes for more than $38,578 and, overall, gets less than 20 miles per gallon.

This minivan is the best of its 2013 class, according to Consumer Reports' annual list of the best models in 10 categories. The van has a V6 engine and backup camera, and delivers a competitive 19 miles per gallon for a sticker price of $36,830, the magazine announced.
