This is one of those only-in-New York stories. It happened at Fashion Week. Heatherette is sort of a fashion house, but not really. It's run by two hard-partying but well-connected club kids as a kind of dress-up game. They get a show at a world-class fashion event, just like Oscar de la Renta. And, oh boy, do they make a big mess of it. Keep clicking for the whole not-so-fabulous tale.

Gossip has it that Britney was expected and Paris was going to model, but both were no-shows. That is not cool, because celebrities are what Heatherette is all about. It's not about selling clothes, because frankly Heatherette doesn't do much of that. It sells a few accessories to stores that stay on top of fads, and it is the uber-fad right now. Or was. Kimora Lee, who did show up, waits backstage Feb. 6, 2007.

It all went downhill from there. A howling mob of people who had tickets to the show, including many influential buyers and reporters, got locked out in the cold, and it was very, very cold in New York that night. The best of the show was still outside, though, as a colorful crowd gathered to see and be seen. At left, Kitty Litter and Skyla make the scene on Feb. 6, 2007.

Meanwhile, the fashion show must go on. In case you haven't guessed yet, the theme is "The Wizard of Oz." Playing Glinda the Good Witch is Amanda Lepore, a transsexual fashion icon in New York. She and child models appeared on the runway at the Heatherette Fall 2007 collection Feb. 6, 2007, in New York.

Since the theme of the Heatherette show is "The Wizard Of Oz," there has to be a Tin Man outfit. A model walks the runway at the Heatherette Fall 2007 show Feb. 6, 2007, in New York.

If this is Oz, this must be Dorothy, also known as model Lydia Hearst. She walks the runway in an outfit from the Heatherette Fall 2007 show Feb. 6, 2007, in New York.
