Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson made his debut in last year's "Get Rich or Die Tryin' " playing (big stretch) a drug dealer who becomes a rap superstar. Most critics gave Fiddy lukewarm reviews at best and panned the film itself. Up next is "Home of the Brave" with Samuel L. Jackson. Should he quit his day job? Let's see how he does playing someone other than himself. At left, 50 Cent rehearsing for "Home of the Brave."
Ludacris
Chris "Ludacris" Bridges won raves for playing a rapper in last year's "Hustle & Flow" and a car thief who's not much of a rap fan in the Oscar-winning film "Crash." Luda brought a depth of character to both roles and took home a SAG award as part of the ensemble cast of "Crash." Should he quit his day job? Luda should keep acting and making music. Shown: Larenz Tate, left, and Ludacris in "Crash."
JoJo
Joanna "JoJo" Levesque made her film debut in this year's "Aquamarine" playing a 13-year-old tomboy who befriends a mermaid. The film didn't really make any waves, and her second movie, "RV" with Robin Williams, was trashed by critics. Should she quit her day job? It wasn't JoJo but the films she was in that got the bad reviews. Jury's still out. From left, JoJo and Emma Roberts in "Aquamarine."
Jessica Simpson
Jessica Simpson made her film debut last year as southern siren Daisy Duke in "The Dukes of Hazzard." The LA Times said, "Simpson is not a great actress, but then the part of a hot tamale who dresses like a Las Vegas cocktail waitress doesn't exactly call for one." Next she'll play a sexy Costco clerk in "Employee of the Month." Should she quit her day job? Not yet. At left, Jessica in "Dukes of Hazzard."
Ashlee Simpson
Ashlee Simpson's "acting" in the widely-panned "Undiscovered" made sister Jessica look like Meryl Streep in comparison. Should she quit her day job? Ashlee should stick to singing -- or at least lip-synching -- for now. At left, Ashlee Simpson in "Undiscovered."
Justin Timberlake
The early buzz on Justin Timberlake as a drug dealer's sidekick in "Alpha Dogs" is good. He's also appearing in "Black Snake Moan" with Samuel L. Jackson, "Southland Tales" with Sarah Michelle Gellar and voicing a character in "Shrek 3" opposite girlfriend Cameron Diaz. Should he quit his day job? If he doesn't mind the double shifts, he can do both. From left, Justin with Anton Yelchin in "Alpha Dogs."
Usher
Usher Raymond IV has acted in film and television since he was a child, but he failed to make an impression as a leading man in the 2005 film "In the Mix" opposite Chazz Palminteri. In the upcoming "Ballad of Walter Holmes," Usher will play an R&B singer who uses a career in music to escape the streets. Should he quit his day job? Usher shouldn't say "yeah" to Hollywood just yet. At left, Usher in "In The Mix"
