Michael John Craver of Lexington, N.C. pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of 17-year-old Shelby Chisom, who was killed when Craver threw a paving stone through a car window last August. Craver filed the plea Monday, officials say. He faces a maximum sentence of more than 40 years in prison, reports CBS affiliate WFMY, but his expected sentence is between 12 to 16 years, according to District Attorney Gary Frank.
After Craver is sentenced, he will be placed in Butner prison, a few miles northeast of Durham, reports the station. Craver and Chisom were said to both be attending a party last August before the incident. Chisom was sitting in the front passenger seat when she was hit by the stone. She died later at a local hospital from a "massive liver injury," the station reported
