Lana Turner

Film star Lana Turner is shown March 17, 1947. Turner, born Julia Jean Mildred Francis Turner, was discovered at age 16 while drinking a Coke at a drugstore counter. She was soon signed to a film contract by MGM.

Lana Turner and Johnny Stompanato, the handsome underworld figure, poses with arms around each other during their two-month vacation in Acapulco, Mexico, March 19, 1958. Stompanato worked as a collector for Los Angeles mobster Mickey Cohen.

Two weeks and two days after they returned to Hollywood from the Mexican resort, Stompanato was stabbed to death in Turner's bedroom by the actresses daughter.
